Stray Cat Lee Rocker
January 18, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Lee Rocker made his mark singing, as well as, playing, standing on, spinning and rocking his giant upright bass in the legendary music group The Stray Cats. Grammy –nominated, The Stray Cats have sold nearly 10 million albums and garnered an astonishing 23 gold and platinum certified records worldwide. Rocker’s stand-up double bass was a key to the signature sound and look of the Stray Cats, whose rise to fame in the early 1980s led to a revived interest in rockabilly and other roots-based rock ‘n’ roll. Looking back over a career spanning more than 36 years, Rocker will tell stories behind the songs, where they came from and what they mean to him. It will also include video, photos, and clips that help tell the story of his journey. While the Stray Cats ended in 1993 Rocker has continued to record and perform with numerous legends including Scotty Moore, Keith Richards, George Harrison, Eric Clapton and John Fogerty, as well as, serving as the bassist and musical director for rockabilly legend Carl Perkins’ band before his death in 1998. In 2011 Lee stepped in to guest star as Perkin’s brother, and bass player, Jay Perkins in Broadway’s hit musical “Million Dollar Quartet.”
